Binzhou Ancient Town, formerly known as Luxu Ancient Town, is located in the north of Binyang County of Nanning. It was founded during the Song Dynasty and reached its heyday during the Qing Dynasty. It is one of the four major ancient towns in Guangxi and an important commercial port in ancient southern area, where Central Plains Culture, Lingnan Culture, and Luoyue Culture merged and developed, creating a unique cultural heritage and a rich humanistic and historical landscape.
The Nanqiao Bridge, constructed with bluestones, is one of the oldest stone bridges in Binyang County, with a history of more than 600 years. The fences on both sides are carved with vivid and auspicious stone sculptures. Walking through the Nanqiao Bridge, you will see the ancient Nanjie Street which is like a dragon connecting hundreds of houses on both sides of the street. In ancient times, most of the houses on the street were used for business, making it a bustling place with numerous merchants and shops in the Binzhou Ancient Town. Only a few houses across the street served as private residences, including the Huang Family’s residence. Standing in the Huang Family’s courtyard, it feels as if one has ridden through a century of time.
