Yuedong Guild Hall is a municipal cultural relic protection unit in Nanning. It is located at No. 22 Zhuangzhi Road, Xixiangtang District, Nanning. It was built during the reign of Emperor Qianlong of the Qing Dynasty (1736-1796) with funds raised by Guangdong’s businessmen living in Nanning and then served as a place for chambers of commerce and gatherings of townsmen. The original building was divided into front, middle and rear parts, with corridors, wing rooms and stages on both sides. It was rebuilt during the reign of Emperor Daoguang (1821-1850). Before liberation, Nanning successively opened two private schools, namely Yuehua Primary School and Yuehua Middle School, which were later changed to public primary schools. In the 1960s, the middle and rear parts and the wing rooms were demolished, leaving only the original front gatehouse and side rooms on both sides. The gatehouse of the Yuedong Guild Hall faces south and is a brick-wood structure with a Chinese gabled roof. It covers an area of 402 square meters, with green bricks and dry walls, glazed sculpture ridge, exquisite murals painted on the inner and outer walls under the beam, and historical figures & stories engraved on the beam frame. The workmanship in building it is exquisite.
