Recently, careful citizens found that "green boxes" were newly installed at the bottom of the single-pole street lights on Qinghuan Road and Daluling Road, which are remote water level monitoring and management terminals installed on a pilot basis by the Nanning Urban Lighting Affairs Service Center (hereinafter referred to as the Municipal Lighting Center), and can control the automatic power off of street lights to ensure the safety of urban lighting and the safety of citizens' lives and property during the flood season.
According to reports, the "smart street lights" equipped with remote water level monitoring and management terminals have an active alarm function, which can actively report monitoring data to the monitoring platform, so that managers can keep track of water level conditions in a timely manner. "When the water level rises, the sensor's buoy will float up. Once the buoy reaches the pre-set light-off water level, the street light power supply will be automatically cut off," a construction worker Chen Tianjin said.
When the flood season comes, the Municipal Lighting Center can keep track of urban waterlogging through the monitoring platform, so as to effectively prevent electric shock accidents caused by urban waterlogging and help Nanning improve its ability to cope with extreme weather.
