Currently, the chestnut pumpkins in Wuxu Town, Jiangnan District have entered their picking maturity period. Liang Yaofan, Secretary of the General Party Branch of Pingdong Village, introduced that chestnut pumpkins boast the advantages of a short growth cycle and high output value. With their unique taste that combines the sweetness of pumpkins and the softness of chestnuts, they are highly favored by consumers. Every day, wholesalers come to the fields to purchase and sell them to regions such as Jiangsu, Zhejiang, and Shanghai.

In recent years, leveraging the land advantage of abundant sunshine, Wuxu Town has promoted the cultivation of new drought-resistant crop varieties and explored intercropping models like “corn + pumpkin” to effectively increase farmers’ income. To date, Wuxu Town has planted 1,450 mu of chestnut pumpkins, with an expected total output of around 2,537.5 tons and a total output value of over 4.202 million yuan this year.
