Recently, over 600 mu of winter-planted potatoes in Ningwu Town, Wuming District have been harvested and brought to market. Li Xiaodong, the person in charge of the planting base, introduced that his hometown is in Chifeng City, Inner Mongolia, where there is rich experience in potato farming. Therefore, he led his team from the north to the south to lease land and grow potatoes. In Xiongmeng Community, Ningwu Town, Wuming District, they leased more than 300 mu of land to trial-plant potatoes and brought northern planting techniques here. “Both the yield and price are good. The average yield per mu is about 3,500 kilograms, with some plots reaching 4,000 kilograms. The purchase price of potatoes is 3 yuan per kilogram. We plan to continue expanding the planting area,” said Li Xiaodong. He noted that the soil and climatic conditions in Wuming District are suitable for potato growth, and the potatoes grown here are of superior quality with strong market demand, so there is no need to worry about sales.
In recent years, Ningwu Town has transformed its land advantage into an economic advantage by actively guiding enterprises and the public to develop winter potato farming. It has vigorously promoted the “base + cooperative + farmers” model and simultaneously disseminated advanced agricultural machinery and planting techniques, driving agricultural efficiency and increasing farmers’ income.
