Recently, the General Office of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of the People’s Republic of China announced the list of pilot cities for the large-scale application of Beidou Navigation Satellite System (BDS) in the field of industry and information technology, and a total of 39 cities across the country were selected into the list. Nanning was among them.
It is reported that the pilot city will focus on the three areas of mass consumption, industrial manufacturing and integration innovation, tailored to the local industrial base of BDS, urban development characteristics and construction situation, to carry out a two-year pilot work to promote the orderly upgrading of BDS equipment and applications. The selection of Nanning shows that it has a sound support system, sufficient policy guarantees, and a good industrial foundation. In the future, Nanning will continue to make efforts in enriching application scenarios and expanding the scale of the BDS industry, accelerate the cultivation of dominant enterprises, vigorously promote the application of BDS, build a good industrial ecology, and strive to complete the pilot city construction task by the end of 2026 as required.
