As we enter the hottest time of the dog days of summer, known as “Zhongfu”, Dr. Nong, Deputy Chief Physician of the Emergency Department at Nanning Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine, reminds everyone to be cautious of heatstroke.
First, avoid prolonged work in high-temperature environment, and refrain from staying in poorly ventilated indoor spaces or engaging in intense physical activities for extended periods. If you’re working in an enclosed, hot, and humid environment, ensure proper ventilation. When working under direct sunlight, limit your exposure and seek shade to avoid sunstroke.
The correct way to stay hydrated during the dog days is to drink plenty of lightly salted water or consume sports drinks, mung bean soup, and similar beverages. It’s better to drink water in small and regular amount, with not exceeding 300 milliliters each time, and avoid excessive consumption.
