Recently, the Smart Blood Bank (Meiao Point) of Nanning Central Blood Station was inaugurated at Meiao Hospital Guangxi. As the first smart blood bank in Guangxi, it features the country's pioneering unmanned automated blood storage refrigerator, which is set to provide advanced blood supply services once it officially becomes operational.
It is learned that the smart blood bank utilizes Internet of Things (IoT) technology to establish an unmanned blood storage facility in collaboration with local hospitals. Blood is delivered in advance by the blood station to this smart facility, and when medical institutions require blood, they can initiate a request online and receive authorization from the blood station, enabling them to collect blood conveniently nearby. For example, at Meiao Hospital Guangxi, once the smart blood bank is fully operational, the time required to collect blood will be reduced from one hour to just ten minutes. This enhancement will make nearby medical facilities access blood more swiftly, providing critical situations with additional time to save lives.
