Recently, the pharmaceutical clinic at the Second Affiliated Hospital of Guangxi Medical University has started to receive patients. This initiative aims to offer patients more specialized and precise pharmaceutical care, broaden the scope of medical services, and provide comprehensive support throughout the treatment process. It represents a crucial step of the hospital to adapt to the demands of comprehensive reform and development of public hospitals, prioritize patient-centered care, and transform pharmaceutical services.
It is reported that the pharmaceutical clinic is responsible for several vital functions, including providing patients with detailed explanations of drug information, assisting in the management of long-term medication plans, monitoring the effectiveness and safety of drug treatments, aiding clinicians in medication adjustments for chronic disease patients and specialized drug services for specific patient groups, as well as offering medication education and consultations. To facilitate close collaboration between the pharmaceutical clinic and specialist physicians, the hospital has introduced dedicated forms about medical records and medication education in the pharmaceutical clinic for pregnant women and puerperas in the outpatient system. Pharmacists carefully record patients’ medication details and share this information with physicians through the information system, which will facilitate collaborative development and adjustment of drug treatment plans.
