Recently, it was learned from Nanning New & High-tech Industrial Development Zone that major breakthroughs have been achieved in the research of using golden line leeches (Poecilobdella manillensis) as a “medical appliance” by Nanning Jingxuehuang Bioengineering Co., Ltd., an enterprise in Nanning New & High-tech Industrial Development Zone, laying a foundation for pushing golden line leeches as a “medical appliance” for treating diseases to enter the market.

Over the years, Nanning Jingxuehuang Bioengineering Co., Ltd. has maintained a close cooperation with many medical research institutions such as Guangxi Medical University, the First Affiliated Hospital of Guangxi Medical University and Guangxi International Zhuang Medicine Hospital, and used living leeches as a disposable “medical appliance” to assist clinical treatment. The experience from many years of clinical work shows that the living-leech therapy has achieved good results in the treatment of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular related diseases such as blood stasis in plastic surgery, random pattern skin flap transplantation and sequelae of stroke. During the research and development of the project, three major breakthroughs have been made, among which the research on the quality standard of using the living body of Guangxi’s golden line leech as a disposable “medical appliance” has been carried out for the first time.
