Recently, it was announced that a mobilization meeting was held for the construction of the Guangxi Water Resource Allocation Project around Beibu Gulf. The meeting took place simultaneously in Hepu County of Beihai City, Binyang County of Nanning City, Lingshan County of Qinzhou City and Fumian District of Yulin City via video connection.
According to reports, the project has been included in the national "14th Five-Year Plan", the Outline of the 2035 Vision Goals, the construction plan of the National Water Network, and other national plans. It is also one of the 150 major water conservancy projects deployed and implemented by the State Council. The project's main objective is to provide water supply to urban and rural areas, as well as industrial sectors in key cities such as Nanning, Beihai and Qinzhou. It aims to improve the safety and reliability of the water supply and create favorable conditions for agricultural irrigation and water ecological environment improvement. The project utilizes the Yujiang River as the primary water source, connecting 12 rivers and 15 reservoirs to form a water grid system with river and reservoir connectivity, internal and external diversion, and multi-source mutual economy. It is divided into four water supply areas including Nanning Water Supply Area, Beihai Water Supply Area, and Qinzhou Water Supply Area. The total construction period of the project is estimated to be 72 months, with a total investment of 28.041 billion yuan.
