In terms of vaccine types, there are three kinds of COVID-19 vaccines currently used in Guangxi:
CanSino Biologics Inc.’s adenovirus vector vaccine only needs to be inoculated once in the whole process; the inactivated vaccines of Sinopharm Group Beijing Institute, Sinopharm Group Wuhan Institute and Beijing Kexing Zhongwei Co., Ltd. are all inactivated ones and need to be inoculated with 2 shots; the recombinant subunit vaccine produced by Anhui Zhifei Longcom Biopharmaceutical Co., Ltd. needs to be inoculated with 3 shots.
The three kinds of COVID-19 vaccines are different in terms of the production process, but all of them have been approved by China’s pharmaceutical regulatory authorities to enter the market or for emergency use. Their safety and effectiveness are reliable. At the present stage, any vaccine is acceptable as long as they can meet the requirements of the epidemic prevention and control.
“The Guide for COVID-19 Vaccination Technology (First Edition)” suggests that people should accept vaccination with the same kind of vaccine products at this stage. In case that a vaccine is out of supply or recipients have to receive vaccination in other places but cannot get the same vaccine, the same kind of vaccine products produced by other manufacturers can be used for vaccination.
In addition, according to some of the masses recently, some COVID-19 inactivated vaccines from Lanzhou research institute and Chengdu research institute have appeared on the reservation platform. However, there are no vaccines produced by the two enterprises among those approved by the National Medical Products Administration. So are such vaccines safe for vaccination?
Deng Qiuyun, deputy director and chief physician of the immunization program of the Center for Disease Control and Prevention of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, explained that in order to increase the present production capacity and supply of COVID-19 vaccines, the Beijing research institute produces the original fluid of the COVID-19 inactivated vaccine and the Lanzhou research institute and the Chengdu research institute will pack it separately, so the COVID-19 inactivated vaccine packed by the two institutes is exactly the same quality as that produced by the Beijing research institute, with the same safety and efficacy after vaccination.
