Recently, in order to further enhance the drowning-prevention awareness of teachers and students and improve their self-rescue and mutual-rescue capabilities, the Red Cross Society of Xixiangtang District launched a public lecture on anti-drowning safety education and emergency care at Jinling Middle School. More than 2,000 teachers and students were present.
During the activity, a trainer introduced drowning hazards, the means of prevent drowning prevention, and the reasons to stay away from dangerous waters. Several students and teachers were asked to act out two rescue mistakes with a view of warning elementary and middle school students not to get in the water to rescue a drowning person. As for on-shore first aid, rescue steps and demonstration based on presumptive situations as well as the simulation of the core rescue techniques of cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) were conducted. Through this public lecture, safety awareness of the teachers and students of the school were effectively built up, and every student re-appreciated the importance of safety and the preciousness of life, and thus was able to effectively deal with common accidents.
