In recent days, it is the harvest season for wampee (academically named clausena lansium), a kind of local fruit commonly seen in Guangxi. In Naluo Village, which is administrated by Tan Qiao Village Committee, Xiaoyi Town of Hengxian, a prefecture-level city of Nanning, wampee fruits are ripening and right for harvest.
It is learned that Naluo Village boasts nearly a hundred-year history of wampee planting. In the village, there are over 3,000 wampee trees aged over 100 years. It has been widely known that Naluo’s wampee fruits are big and sweet. Over the past few years, the village has been engaged in perfecting the wampee planting structure and introducing better-taste and higher-quality species, with more than 10,000 trees planted each year. Wampee planting has been developed into an economic growth drive for the village, lifting the people there out of poverty and further boosting rural revitalization. The villagers not only sell fresh wampee fruits to vendors for the traditional market, but also sell them online to the market nationwide via their own e-commerce platform. It is said that the wampee fruits they launched online are very popular, with a price of 4-5 yuan per half kilogram.
