2009 Pan-Beibu Gulf Economic Cooperation Forum is held in Nanning, Guangxi from August 6 to 7.
The theme of the forum continues to be “Co-building New China-ASEAN Growth Pole”, while the subtitle “Expanding Cooperation and Turing Crisis into Opportunities” is different from the previous three forums. The three topics of this forum include: “The global financial crisis and the Pan-Beibu Gulf economic cooperation”, “Regional infrastructure projects construction and cooperation in Pan-Beibu Gulf” and “Beibu Gulf and ASEAN sub-regional cooperation and development”.
According to the organizing committee, 2009 Pan-Beibu Gulf Economic Cooperation Forum has the following features: Firstly, this forum offers a good opportunity to establish the image of Guangxi and Beibu Gulf with the background of global financial crisis; secondly, this forum has become a focus of attention as Chinese government introduced eight initiatives to strengthen the cooperation with ASEAN; thirdly, this forum enjoys increasing influence with more investment at home and abroad. Pan-Beibu Gulf Economic Forum has been successfully held for three times and many constructive and feasible suggestions have been proposed for Pan-Beibu Gulf finance cooperation, industry layout, infrastructure, cooperation mechanism as well as the construction of China-ASEAN FTA. It has become an important platform and brand to promote Pan-Beibu Gulf economic cooperation. With more influence, it attracts more attention from ASEAN countries and the support of national ministries. The active participation of the surrounding provinces and the increasing investment at home and abroad intensify its brand effect.
There are 12 co-sponsors, including the people’s government of Guangdong Province, which is new this year. 300 people attend this forum. The distinguished guests include China’s state leader, important officials of international organization, national political VIPs of ASEAN, domestic and international experts and scholars, representatives of Fortune 500 and multinational companies, directors of well-known finance institutions home and abroad, officials of foreign embassies and consulates in China, officials of Chinese embassies and consulates in Pan-Beibu Gulf countries, representatives from national ministries, Hong Kong, Macao and neighboring provinces.
