Recently, the National Day Special Performance of “Yongzhou Charm” Local Opera Week in 2021 was staged in Xinhui Academy of Nanning, singing the spirit of self-confidence, self-improvement and positive innovation of Nanning’s opera workers in the new era and offering sincere blessings to the great motherland.
The wonderful programs staged on that day, including Cantonese Opera solo, Cantonese Opera duet, Yong Opera and drama, etc., all won full applause. Nanning’s opera lovers were intoxicated by artists with their colorful appearance, full-fledged skills and charming singing. During the performance interval, a small class on knowledge of Yong Opera was set up to tell about the historical origin of Yong Opera, the relationship between Yong Opera and Cantonese Opera, the famous characters and plays of Yong Opera, etc., calling on everyone to inherit and protect the intangible art. It is understood that Xinhui Academy is the most well-preserved guild hall building of the Qing Dynasty in Nanning, and has been listed as a major cultural site protected at the municipal level. Yong Opera is a national intangible cultural heritage, and Cantonese Opera is a world intangible cultural heritage.
