Recently, the Guangxi ASEAN Economic and Technological Development Zone held the 3rd Production Competition for the Special Southeast Asian Cuisines with the theme of “delicacies from ASEAN”. 63 returned overseas Chinese, family members of overseas Chinese and Southeast Asian food lovers showed their unique skills and competed with each other in cooking.
The competition on that day is divided into two events: cooking of special Southeast Asian cuisines and making of Southeast Asian pastry. The contestants complete the cooking of a hot dish or the making a pastry with Southeast Asia characteristics by frying, deep-frying, baking, steaming, boiling and stewing within the specified time. The competition not only built a platform for returned overseas Chinese, the family members of overseas Chinese and Southeast Asian food lovers to exchange and display skills, but also promoted the inheritance and development of Southeast Asian snack making skills in the hometown of overseas Chinese.
