Recently, the Nanning Municipal People’s Government promulgated the “Management Measures on Equipment of Service Rooms for Elderly Care in Newly-built Residential Communities (trial implementation)” (hereinafter referred to as the “Measures”), which is valid for two years. The “Measures” stipulate that in the future, new residential communities should be equipped with community home-based service rooms for elderly care. The area of such rooms should be at least 30 square meters on a base of a hundred households. And the building area of single rooms should be no less than 300 square meters.
It is understood that the “Measures” was issued to deal with the aging of the population, accelerate the development of service industry for the aged, and solve the problem of planning and construction of community home-based service rooms for elderly care in newly-constructed residential communities. According to person in charge of the relevant department of Nanning Civil Affairs Bureau, in order to facilitate the actual implementation, the “Measures” has clarified the nature of such rooms, i.e. places for proving services including daily care, cultural entertainment, health care and rehabilitation for the elderly in the communities. In the meantime, specific types were listed in the “Measures”, so as to better determine which newly-built residential communities are required to build such rooms for elderly care. Newly-built commercial housing residential communities, residential communities of reconstruction of old and dilapidated buildings, demolition and resettlement communities, affordable housing and other areas within the scope of the planning area of this city need to provide community home-based service rooms for elderly care in accordance with the provisions of the “Measures”.
