1. How to terminate the relief and support if the extremely poor no longer meet the conditions of relief and support?
Answer: If the extremely poor are no longer eligible for relief and support, the village committee, neighborhood committee or the support service institution shall promptly inform the township people’s government or the sub-district office which then will verify the situation and submit the result to the county, district or development zone civil affairs department for approval. If the county, district or development zone civil affairs department, the township people’s government or the sub-district office finds that the extremely poor person no longer meets the conditions for relief and support in their work, the procedures for termination of relief and support shall be handled in time. The extremely poor person who intends to terminate his or her relief and support shall be publicized with a publicity period of 7 days in the village committee or the support service institution by the township people’s government or sub-district office under the notice of the county, district or development zone civil affairs department. Minors who are still receiving compulsory education or studying in ordinary high schools or secondary vocational schools after reaching the age of 16 may continue to enjoy the treatment of relief and support.

Answer: The main contents of relief and support for the extremely poor include: (1) providing basic living conditions, including daily necessities and pocket money such as grain, oil, non-staple food, domestic water, electricity, fuel, clothing and bedding which can be guaranteed in kind or in cash; (2) caring for those who cannot take care of themselves, and providing basic services such as necessary care during daily life and hospitalization; (3) providing disease treatment; (4) providing housing security; (5) providing funeral services; (6) providing educational assistance; and (7) providing care services.
