Indonesia is the country with the largest proportion of Muslims in the world with about 87% of the population being Muslims. The Muslims do not eat pork or drink alcohol. In public places, lady first is a widely-accepted norm. Men usually don't take initiative to shake hands when they meet women. If the other side reaches out, they can shake hands lightly. Usually they think that the left hand is unclean so accepting gifts or giving out things with the left hand is rude. Besides, touching a stranger's head, no matter which hand you use, is considered as impolite. Indonesians like to eat spicy and fried food with a lot of seasoning. Normally people grab food with their right hand while knives and forks are used at banquets.
Indonesian traditional dress, "Batik", is made by traditional batik cloth, and known as the "National Dress". On formal occasions, men will wear long-sleeved batik shirts and dark trousers while ladies usually wear batik or suits made of other cloth.
