Quezon is a city named after the early Philippine President Manuel L. Quezon. Located in the northeast of Manila, with an area of 166 square kilometers and a population of about 2.8 million, it is the largest city of the Philippines and also a cultural city. In 1948, it was selected as the capital of the country. Since the establishment of Metro Manila in 1976 by the Central Government, Quezon's urban function has been weakened, but the administrative agencies like the House of Representatives are still gathered here. The city is home to the best university of the state, University of the Philippines and the largest gymnasium, Smart Araneta Coliseum.
