Khon Kaen Province is located at the heart of northeast of Thailand, 445 kilometers from Bangkok and covering an area of 10,885 square kilometers with a population of about 1.8 million (data from December of 2017). Mainly it has to the topography of plain and hill with average elevation between 100 and 200 meters. It’s renowned for its agricultural products and handmade crafts such as Thai silk. Sylvite is the most important mineral resource of the province.
Khon Kaen City is the hub city of northeastern Thailand, and the center of politics, commerce, education, medical facilities, finance and transportation of the region. It has a long history and is the cradle of ancient civilizations. It has excellent environment and a multitude of temples, typical northeastern charm and cuisine, and beautiful pastoral landscapes. Nongwen Temple and Nine-layered Pagoda are landmarks of the city. The city has participated in activities of China-ASEAN Expo for many times and been twice designated as “City of Charm” of the expo.
