Recently, Shawei Zuojiang Grand Bridge, a controlling project along Wuxu-Long’an Expressway in Nanning, as well as the largest-span highway concrete-filled steel tubular X-shaped arch bridge in the world under construction, has successfully completed the rib-assembling in its first segment. This achievement marks that Wuxu-Long’an Expressway has taken a solid step to achieve the goal of launching, laying a foundation for being open to traffic at an early date.
It was understood that the full length of Shawei Zuojiang Grand Bridge is 968.5 meters and the main span accounts for 360 meters. The main bridge employs about 9,094 tons of steel totally, and there are 32 arch ribs along the entire bridge, among which the largest one can be 144 tons in weight. To facilitate transportation, the processing and manufacturing of arch ribs are carried out in the steel structure plants within the reach of main lines. Given the short distance between the sites and the arch support, it utilizes double deck flat cars to follow U-shaped transportation routes and deliver the arch support to the lifting field in Wuxu, which greatly reduces the transportation cost and distance.
