It is recently learned from Jiangnan District that Suxu Town, in order to exclude the worries of the majority of melon farmers in its jurisdictions, has timely investigated the damage of its watermelon planting industry, actively sought disaster relief funds for farmers, and tried to find ways to help farmers sell watermelons. At present, the sale of watermelons in Suxu Town is normal.
According to statistics, about 63,000 mu of watermelon was planted in Suxu Town this year, and 44,000 mu was affected in varying degrees. After applying for the first batch of disaster relief funds of 123,700 yuan, namely the agricultural production disaster relief funds from superior departments, Suxu Town immediately organized every village to apply for disaster relief subsidies for watermelon planting in accordance with the policies and provisions by the superior departments, promptly publicized the application information in all villages (communities), and cooperated with the superior departments to confirm and verify the area of affected fields. In addition, Suxu Town also accelerated the implementation of the industry award and subsidy policy. The second batch of industries (including watermelon planting industry) awards and subsidies will be granted to 298 households, worth 598,878.3 yuan, which is scheduled to be transmitted to villagers’ accounts by the end of this month.
