It was learned in recent days that in order to further promote poverty alleviation through consumption and win the battle in fighting poverty, Xixiangtang District had spared no effort in this regard. It had expanded the circulation and distribution channels of agricultural products in poverty-stricken areas to secure the victory of the battle.
From June 1 to July 15 this year, Xixiangtang District had held consumption and shopping festival activities, worked in liaison with each department and street and mobilized shop owners to participate and offer discount sales. Such activities had stimulated consumption and promoted sales of agricultural products, which had measurably mitigated their unmarketable pressure. Business and trade enterprises above designated size in the city such as shopping mall, supermarket, restaurant and large commercial complex were organized to create thick consumption atmosphere in emerging businesses like e-commerce and internet sales. According to the statistics submitted by enterprises, these consumption and shopping festival activities had contributed 253 million yuan worth consumption volume in total. As the major driving force in selling fresh agricultural products, shopping malls and supermarkets had sold 171 million yuan of fresh agricultural products, accounting for 68% of the total consumption volume.
