Lately, the National Development and Reform Commission released the “Overall Planning on New Land-Sea Corridor in Western China” (hereafter referred to as the "Overall Planning") as important measures to deepen the sea-land two-way opening-up and promote the formation of new pattern in China Western Development. It would contribute to speeding up construction of corridors and logistics facilities, improving transportation capacity and the development quality and efficiency of logistics, deepening international economic and trade cooperation, advancing the in-depth integration of transportation, logistics and business and trade industries, and provide strong support to drive forward high-quality development of China's western regions and build a modern economic system. In particular, key node cities and logistics junctions in southwestern regions like Nanning were included under core coverage.
Reportedly, the "Overall Planning" proposed many key projects in Nanning, such as accelerating the construction of Guiyang-Nanning railway, expanding the capacity of Nanning-Pingxiang Section of Hunan-Guangxi Railway, upgrading Nanning-Fangchenggang Railway, etc. In terms of construction of logistics facilities, Nanning would serve as a junction along the way, Nanning Yudong Transportation and Logistics Center would serve as a large freight yard and Nanning Shajing area as a railway logistics base under key programs; and e-commerce logistics would also be developed at a faster pace by supporting the expansion of cross-border e-commerce comprehensive pilot zones in Nanning and other cities and implementing related policies on cross-border e-commerce retailing import.
