Through collecting historical data, highlighting local characteristics and digging out the culture connotation, Liuxu Town of Qingxiu District promotes the construction of village history chambers. As of December, 2016, the town had completed the construction of village history chambers of 14 incorporated villages.
The construction was centered on the masses and paid attention to the historical data collection. The town paid special attention to the digging, collecting, sorting and compiling of historical materials of the villages.
The village history chambers are composed of several sections, and highlight the local characteristics. The town has set up sections including “historical development”, “folk customs”, “cultural heritage” and “famous deeds of famous people”, fully displaying the connotation of the village history.
The village history chambers are based on folk culture and dig out its connotation. Taking the opportunity of the construction of village history chambers, Liuxu Town comprehensively sorts out and summarizes the intangible cultural heritage of Guangxi including Banshan temple fair and such folk cultures as eight tones, lion dance and scrambling for the firecrakers, which enables villagers to get a better knowledge of their local culture.
