Established in 1951 and as the first comprehensive cultural and entertainment park built after the liberation of Nanning City, Nanning People's Park is a national AAAA tourist attraction and one of the first key parks in Guangxi. The park covers an area of 46.17 hectares, including 39.62 hectares of land and 6.55 hectares of water. Wangxian Slope runs east to west within the park, with lush and orderly trees, while Bailong Pond siting among the greenery like a piece of fine jade. The picturesque mountains and lakes contain rich historical and humanities significance within their natural beauty. Famous tourist attractions and historical sites here include "Wangxian Reminiscence", "Revolutionary Martyrs Monument", "Zhenning Fort", "Children's Playground", "Longtang Fish Viewing", and "Shade-tolerant Plant Garden". Among them, "Wangxian Reminiscence" is one of the eight major scenic spots of ancient Nanning and was rated as one of the "Top Ten Landscapes of the Green City" in 2003. The "Revolutionary Martyrs Monument" is a cultural relic protection site of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region and a base for patriotic education in Guangxi. "Zhenning Fort" is listed as a cultural relic protection site of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. The Children's Playground has more than thirty amusement facilities of all scales, making it one of the amusement parks in Nanning City with the most entertainment projects and the most complete facilities. The park was officially opened to the public for free on May 1, 2008, and receives about 10 million person-times of visitors annually.

Since its establishment, the park has won the titles of Guangxi Urban Greening Advanced Unit, Guangxi Youth Science and Technology Education Base, Advanced Unit in Nanning City, and Greening Advanced Unit in Nanning City, as well as the "Special Award" and "Outstanding Contribution Award" of the first China International Afforestation Expo, the Gold Award for Outdoor Attractions at Hong Kong International Garden and Flower Expo, the Gold Award for Outdoor Attractions at the 9th China Chrysanthemum Exhibition, and the Special Award for Urban Gardening at the 2nd Guangxi Garden and Horticulture Expo.
