Recently, the New Era Civilization Practice Station of Yangmei Village, Jiangxi Town, Jiangnan District, together with Yangmei Primary School, jointly carried out the civilization practice activity themed with "Exploring Local Food at Thousand-Year-Old Town and Making Intangible Cultural Heritage Rice Cake", and helped students experience the unique charm of intangible cultural heritage up close so as to promote the excellent traditional Chinese culture.
As one of the "Three Treasures of Yangmei" and with a long history, Yangmei Rice Cake uses glutinous rice as its main raw material. The "Rice" in "Rice Cake" comes from the grainy and soft texture of glutinous rice cake powder. In 2012, the Yangmei rice-making technique was included in the fourth batch of representative projects of autonomous region-level intangible cultural heritage. Yangmei Rice Cake is not only a traditional delicacy, but also a cultural treasure that carries history and craftsmanship. The students who participated in the activity said that through this activity, they not only had a more comprehensive understanding of traditional techniques, but also improved their patience and concentration, and deeply realized the importance of intangible cultural heritage inheritance.
