In recent years, besides the sales of fresh fruits, Wuming District has continuously explored the orah mandarin industry chain, actively developing processed products such as orah mandarin juice, small green orah mandarins, orah mandarin dishes, and orah mandarin coffee, promoting the brand of Wuming Orah Mandarin, enhancing the added value of orah mandarins, and creating a new engine for the sweet industry.
In the orah mandarin juice production workshop of Guangxi Yijia Nongrun Biotechnology Co., Ltd., located in the Chengnan Industrial Park of the Yiling Industrial Concentration Area in Nanning, the production line is operating at full capacity. On the conveyor belt, glass bottles, after being mechanically cleaned and sterilized at high temperatures, are transported to the filling area. In a short while, each bottle is filled with golden yellow orah mandarin juice. After being processed into sweet compound juice, these fresh orah mandarins will be delivered to the dining tables of thousands of households.
It is understood that the company is expected to process 20,000 tons of fresh orah mandarins in 2025. During the Spring Festival holiday, the company’s orah mandarin juice products were sold in Jilin, Liaoning, Hunan, Hubei, Jiangxi, and other places. Among them, more than 4,000 supermarkets, restaurants, barbecue shops, etc. sell orah mandarin juice in Shenyang, Liaoning.
In addition to the sweet compound juice, orah mandarins can also be processed into medicinal orah mandarins and tea orah mandarins.
The Ningwu Town Base of Guangxi Qingqingyuan Agriculture Co., Ltd. utilizes these small green orah mandarins picked during the fruit-thinning process for processing, making them into medicinal orah mandarins and tea orah mandarins, and giving them new value. Since the company started production in May 2024, it has been processing 50 to 60 tons of small green orah mandarin slices per day, all of which are sold in the domestic market. In 2024 alone, the company purchased over 500 tons of small green orah mandarins.
Orah mandarins can also be processed into delicious food. In recent years, some hotels and restaurants in Wuming District have successively launched orah mandarin-themed dishes and drinks, such as Orah Mandarin Sweet and Sour Pork, Charcoal-Grilled Orah Mandarin Pork, Slow-Cooked Orah Mandarin-Flavored Spare Ribs, Orah Mandarin-Flavored Shrimp Balls, and Orah Mandarin Coffee, letting tourists to Wuming District taste the local industry-specific specialty food.
In recent years, Wuming District has taken "orah mandarin" as a medium to focus on playing the "four cards" of industry, market, culture, and tourism, striving to build the orah mandarin industry into an important industry for enriching the people and revitalizing the villages. At the same time, it has strengthened the building of the orah mandarin brand, actively explored the cultural and ecological values of orah mandarins, and explored experiential services, such as orchard eco-tourism, picking and study routes, and orah mandarin-themed inns, to promote the deep integration and development of the orah mandarin industry and tourism.
From the field to the workshop, from the orchard to the dining table, Wuming District Orah Mandarins are writing a new paradigm for rural revitalization. This “golden fruit” has not only leveraged industrial upgrading but has also brought a gratifying modern vitality to traditional agriculture.
