On the afternoon of Nov.2, 2004, Madam Wu Yi, Vice Premier of the State Council of the PRC met respectively with ASEAN countries¡¯leaders who came to participate the first China-ASEAN Expo in Nanning. During her meetings with H.E. Mr. Samdech Hun Sen, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, H.E. Mr. Boungnang Vorachith, Premier of the Laos PDR and Lt-General Soe Win, Prime Minister of Myanmar, Madam Wu conveyed greetings from Chinese Premier Wen Jiabo. She expressed appreciation and thanks to their attitudes to maintain adherence to one China policy and opposition to "Taiwan independence" and to support China in her efforts to realize national reunification. During her meeting with H.E. Mr. Samdech Hun Sen, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, Madam Wu Yi said that Chinese government attach great importance to the Sino-Cambodian relationship and will support, as usual, their efforts to safeguard national stability, ethnic unity and economic development. At her meeting with H.E. Mr. Boungnang Vorachith, Premier of the Laos PDR, Madam Wu Yi said that the China-ASEAN Expo proposed by Premier Wen Jiabao set up a platform for China and the ASEAN countries to further develop trade, investment, cooperation in economic technology, project contracting and cooperation in labor resources. She wished that the Summit to be held in Laos by heads of ASEAN-China (10+1) and ASEAN-China, Japan, Korea (10+3) would be a success. She said that it is China¡¯s hope that as the current president, Laos would play a greater role in promoting China-ASEAN countries¡¯ cooperation. During her meeting with Lt-General Soe Win, Prime Minister of Myanmar, Madam Wu Yi congratulated him on his election as premier and said it is China¡¯s consistent policy to Myanmar and their internal affairs should be solved by the Myanmar government itself. It is China¡¯s hope that Myanmar will safeguard national peace and stability, improving people¡¯s living standard. Madam Wu met with H.E. Mr. Pham Gia Khiem, Vice Prime Minister of Viet Nam and Secretary General of the ASEAN Secretariat. Present at the talk were Bo Xilai, Minister of Commerce of the People¡¯s Republic of China, Cao Bochun, Party Secretary General of Guangxi, Lu Bing, Governor of Guangxi.
