Dongnian Festival is a traditional festival for Dong people. Dong people living in different districts celebrate Dongnian Festival on different days, and it is usually held from Nov. 1st to 11th or in October of the Lunar calendar. On the eve of Dongnian Festival, bean curd, fish and prawn are boiled in sour water and then cooled overnight to prepare for the cold dishes. Then on Dongnian Festival these cold dishes are offered to the ancestors as sacrifice.
