Recently, the manager of a sugar factory in Thailand, heading an 11-member delegation, pays a visit to Wuming, a county of Nanning where the high-yielding sugarcane planting base of Pan Peibin, the King of Sugarcane, is located, to learn from his experiences. With more than 300 thousand mu sugarcane grown every year, Wuming is one of the key high-yielding sugarcane planting counties of Guangxi. Pan Peibin, the King of Sugarcane, plants more than 500 mu sugarcane each year in his hometown, Tang Village of the county. Each mu of his high-yielding sugarcane planting base has annually yielded more than eight tons raw sugarcane for several consecutive years. Mr. Pan has publicized his planting techniques nationwide, benefiting eight provinces, 151 counties and 1,618 villages. He has been honored one after another as one of the first rural talents and the top ten planting hands of his county, the model worker of Nanning and Guangxi, and the national leader in rural science popularization. In 2007, he was even employed as the technical consultant by a limited sugar company in Thailand. Now that Pan Peibin is still in Thailand instructing the farmers there to grow sugarcane, the factory manager from Thailand insists on visiting the planting base.
